In this episode, Georg Forster and the crew of the HMS Resolution find themselves at the mercy of the unforgiving Southern Ocean. As the new year begins with icy storms and towering icebergs, they push further south into uncharted waters. A dense fog suddenly engulfs them, and in an instant, they lose sight of their companion ship, the Adventure. Despite firing cannons and keeping night fires burning, no response comes, forcing them to accept the harsh reality—they are now alone in the vast Antarctic expanse.
Amidst the isolation, they witness the mesmerizing Aurora Australis, its towering white beams illuminating the frozen landscape. As they collect ice floes to replenish their water supply, they encounter penguins, seals, and great seabirds, raising hopes that land might be near. Yet the unknown looms large, and every day at sea without the Adventure deepens their uncertainty. Will they reunite, or must they continue their perilous voyage alone?
